DRDO invites online applications from graduate engineers and postgraduates in Science including students who are appearing or have appeared in their final year examination through RAC website https://rac.gov.in for recruitment to the posts of Scientist `B’ in Defence Research & Development Organization (DRDO), in Level-10 (7th CPC) of the Pay Matrix (Rs. 56,100/-) in specified disciplines and categories. Interested candidates can apply online before the last date of submission through the official website.

Educational Qualification

  • Electronics & Comm. Engg – Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology in Electronics & Communication Engg from a recognized university or equivalent.
  • Mechanical Engineering – Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology in Mechanical Engg from a recognized university or equivalent.
  • Computer Science & Engineering – Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology in Computer Science & Engg from a recognized university or equivalent.
  • Electrical Engineering – Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology in Electrical Engg from a recognized university or equivalent.
  • Material Science & Engineering/Metallurgical Engineering – Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology in Metallurgy from a recognized university or equivalent.
  • Physics – Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology in Metallurgy from a recognized university or equivalent.

DRDO Recruitment SELECTION PROCESS

  1. The shortlisted candidates on the basis of the GATE scores and/or Descriptive Examination or percentage of marks in NET will be required to appear in the Personal Interview to be held at Delhi or any other place as decided by RAC/ DRDO.
  2. The final result (customized for the individual candidate) will be made available at RAC website (https://rac.gov.in).

DRDO Recruitment SELECTION CRITERIA

  1. For Subjects/Disciplines under Part-I: The final selection of the candidates will be purely on the basis of discipline wise category wise merit of aggregate of 80% weightage of marks in the Descriptive Examination and 20% weightage of marks in Personal Interview.
  2. For Subjects/Disciplines under Part-II: The final selection of the candidates will be purely on the basis of discipline wise category wise merit of aggregate of 80% weightage of GATE score and 20% weightage of marks in Personal Interview.
  3. For Subjects/Disciplines under Part-III: The final selection of the candidates will be purely on the basis of category wise merit of aggregate of 80% weightage of percentage of marks in NET and 20% weightage of marks in Personal Interview.

DETAILS OF DESCRIPTIVE EXAMINATION (Only for Part-I disciplines)

  1. The examination will be of the descriptive type, consisting of two papers of 300 marks each, to be conducted in two sessions of the duration of three hours each. The syllabus of the examination is similar to the Engineering Services Examination (Main) in the relevant discipline conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The examination will be administered in a paper-based format.
  2. Tentatively, the Descriptive Examination will be conducted at DRDO centers in seven cities (Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kanpur, Kolkata, and Pune) as well as at other common centers.
  3. The Descriptive Examination is likely to be held in October 2020.
